Moth Moth Moth by Kayla Carron
Moth and their friend Kayla have been collaborating since Mothie started drag. She literally zipped up my dress the first night I tumbled on stage.
Kayla is my favorite Firefly, always buzzing about and snapping the best photographs ever. These images capture me as I'm still fresh into being a Drag Artist.
I long for the days when we walked around dusky neighborhoods and snapped high exposure pictures of my frightening clown lips.
When I am in front of Kayla Carron's camera, I feel safe and seen and like I am beautiful and precious and fascinating.
Mothie by Marcus Menefee
Marcus Menefee is the first person who captured Moth on film. Her first night in drag led to many other photo sessions.
Marcus has always explored elements of masculinity in his work, exploring a the gentle strength of manhood and, by extension, personhood itself.
The coming together of my surreal and funny drag aesthetics with his visual intellect has yet to fail.
In many of the images we've created together there is a jovial feeling, but when I ruminate over them, I find the Marcus's lense can bring out a more serious side at times.
